Muttaburrasaurus Interpretation Centre
Visit the Muttaburrasaurus Interpretation Centre to encounter a replica of the Muttaburrasaurus langdoni. The centre features interpretative displays showcasing replicas of the original bones, detailing the history of dinosaurs, and recounting the discovery of the Muttaburrasaurus.
In 1963, local grazier Doug Langdon unearthed the fossilized skeleton near the Thomson River at Muttaburra. This discovery marked the finding of the second most complete dinosaur skeleton in Queensland and the initial one among five Muttaburrasaurus skeletons discovered in Australia. The Muttaburrasaurus, a herbivorous dinosaur that inhabited the land around 100 million years ago, is commemorated through the fossilised remains housed in the Queensland Museum in Brisbane.
