Koorana Crocodile Farm
Of the many species on earth today that can trace their ancestry back to prehistoric times, evolution has touched crocodiles perhaps least. Crocodiles were an offshoot of thearchosaurs, the "ruling lizards" of the early-to-middle Triassic period of the Mesozoic Era. This epoch in history began about 251 million years ago and ended 65 million years ago.
The best way to experience a modern-day dinosaur is at Koorana Crocodile Farm. Koorana was established in 1981 as Queensland’s first commercial crocodile farm. The Lever Family has worked hard to grow the farm to a commercial level now holding over 3000 crocs. Tours of the farm focus on education and preservation of these ancient beasts and will help provide visitors with a deeper appreciation and respect of the saltwater crocodile.
